What is Prayer?

Prayer, in its truest sense, is a conversation with God. It is a place where our heart meets His. The Bible shows that prayer isn’t about saying the perfect words, but about being honest and open before the One who already knows us completely.

When I pray, I’m reminded of Philippians 4:6, which says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Prayer becomes the place where my worries are conquered, and my weakness finds strength. Jesus modeled this intimacy with the Father. Before major decisions or moments of hardship, He withdrew to pray. That reminds me that prayer is not an obligation, but that it’s an invitation. When I slow down and speak with God, I find peace that no distraction can offer. Even when I don’t have the right words, Romans 8:26 comforts me: “The Spirit helps us in our weakness... the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

Prayer changes us. It softens our hearts, teaches us to forgive, and helps us listen more than we speak. Some days, prayer feels like quiet stillness. Other days, it’s tears, questions, or gratitude. Yet every prayer, whether whispered in faith or spoken through pain, draws us closer to God.

I call you to use the easiest way to talk to God: PRAYER! It’s in prayer that we find His presence, His peace, and the quiet assurance that we are never alone.
